More than Just a Padel Club in Mallorca: Interview with Daniel Hansson, Co-founder of Bendinat Urban Country Club
How did the idea of creating the Bendinat Urban Country Club come about?
For many years, we have successfully managed two Padel clubs and a real estate business in Sweden, and a couple of years ago, we decided to move to Mallorca, combining our two passions: Padel and this beautiful island.
Was it always planned to be located in Bendinat, Calviá? Why did you choose this location over others on the island?
We explored several areas around Palma for many years, but Calviá consistently stood out as the ideal location. When the opportunity in Bendinat arose, it felt like the perfect fit. The area offers a unique combination of natural beauty, exclusivity, and accessibility that aligns perfectly with our vision for the club.

When developing the club concept, did you draw inspiration from any other clubs or personal experiences when designing the Bendinat Urban Country Club?
Yes, absolutely! True to the Mediterranean style, we blended inspiration from our personal experiences, always prioritizing that warm, inviting, and vibrant essence that defines life here. At Bendinat Club, every detail reflects that balance between elegance and relaxed coastal charm.
What does Padel offer that other outdoor sports don’t?
Padel is an incredibly social sport that’s easy to learn and naturally brings people together, fostering a vibrant atmosphere of networking and connection. At Bendinat Club, we’ve taken this sense of community a step further by creating a truly special setting, complemented by the Bendinat Bistro, a place where players and visitors can relax, share moments, and enjoy delicious Mediterranean-inspired cuisine.
How are the values of Padel reflected in the philosophy of the club?
For me, the values of Padel are accessibility, community, and enjoyment, and these are deeply woven into the philosophy of our club as we embrace the inclusive nature of Padel, making it a sport for everyone, regardless of skill level or background. The strong sense of connection that Padel fosters is mirrored in our welcoming environment, where friendships are formed both on and off the court.

Mallorca already counts with high-end sports clubs, what sets Bendinat Urban Country Club apart from the rest?
Mallorca is home to many high-end sports clubs, but what truly sets Bendinat Club apart is its unique blend of top-tier facilities and the authentic Mediterranean spirit. This club stands out as an active lifestyle hotspot, combining Padel, a state-of-the-art gym, a heated pool, and a high-quality restaurant—all designed to create a holistic experience.
The Bendinat Bistro enhances this offering with a carefully curated Mediterranean menu, making it the perfect place to relax and connect after an active day.
Expats and investors moving to Mallorca often seek to embrace the Mediterranean lifestyle. How is this ethos integrated into your club?
Bendinat Club embodies the perfect harmony of Mallorca’s rich diversity, bringing together Mallorquins, international residents, and seasonal visitors in an environment that reflects the living blend of our community, creating a unique and dynamic atmosphere where everyone feels at home.
How does Bendinat Urban Country Club embody the concept of 'ultimate wellbeing' for its members?
We represent the concept of ‘ultimate wellbeing’ by seamlessly integrating physical, mental, and social wellness into a single experience. Beyond fitness, the serene and beautiful surroundings foster a sense of tranquility, allowing members to unwind and recharge.
What truly elevates the concept of wellbeing here is the social aspect as members are encouraged to connect and build relationships.

How do you envision the role of the club within the local community?
We envision it as an integral part of the local community, not just as a place for fitness and recreation, but as a hub that fosters connections, inclusivity, and a sense of belonging. We aim to create a space where both locals and international residents can come together, share experiences, and build lasting relationships, supporting the promotion of a healthy and active lifestyle and inspiring individuals and families in the area to prioritize wellness.
What was your journey like as a non-Spanish entrepreneur opening a business in Mallorca?
As an entrepreneur, I was fortunate to collaborate with a range of local professionals whose expertise and support significantly eased my journey.
How did you find the process of financing the project with the assistance of Lionsgate Capital?
The team at Lionsgate, particularly Juanita, was incredibly supportive throughout the process. Their guidance made the entire financing journey feel seamless, secure, and reassuring, allowing us to focus on the growth of the project with confidence.

What are your expectations for the club during its first year of operation?
Although we’ve just begun, we are already confident that the club aligns perfectly with the Bendinat community. So far, everything is progressing according to plan, and we’re excited to see how it continues to evolve and connect with both locals and visitors.
What is your favourite Sunday plan in Mallorca?
My perfect Sunday in Mallorca starts with an energizing Padel session in the morning at the Club, followed by a relaxing brunch at Bendinat Bistro. The afternoon is all about enjoying the islands natural beauty, whether it’s unwinding at the beach or exploring the mountains.
